Queen Latifah has revealed that she would like to become a mother and has plans to adopt a child.
The 41-year-old singer-and-actress, who is usually guarded about her private life, told More magazine she would be happy to have a baby naturally but adopting has been a dream of hers since she was a teenager.
She explained: “I’m definitely going to adopt – or have – a child. I’ve wanted to adopt since I was 17 or 18 years old.”
Latifah also opened up about her older brother Lance Owens who died in 1992 at the age of 24 while riding a motorcycle that she’d bought him – saying his death had inspired her to live her own life to the fullest.
Latifah, who usually wears Lance’s motorbike keys around her neck, said:
“As my Aunt Elaine says, ‘You never get over it, but you get through it.’ I think the most important thing I’ve learned is to not stop living. I know for a fact that my brother would not want me to stay right there, stuck in that misery.”
