There’s some good in the worst of us and some worst in the best of us. No human is 100% either or. We ALL are both ‘and’. We have to resist the urge to label a person that way because of how they made us feel. If you can be honest with yourself, your ex wasn’t 100% horrible and possibly unbeknownst to you, your most respected leader isn’t 100% faultless. Truth is, everyone we encounter will have between 0 and 100% of both what we like AND dislike. The person who knows how to effectively manage those percentages will get the most out of every relationship. It’s what my grandmother used to wisely say when we ate fish for dinner, ‘Either learn how to separate the meat from the bones, or be hungry!’ Whether the relationship is business or personal, it’s like a fish dinner at grandma’s house … There’s always meat, and there’s always bones. Understanding this going in will help insulate your heart from some of the bruises that relationships inherently bring.

Proverbs 4:23 – Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
