Atlanta’s own Monica will sing the National Anthem at Game 3 of the NBA Finals in Boston Tuesday night (June 8). The singer revealed the news via her Twitter account.
The Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics are tied 1-1 in the best-of-seven series.
“I’m excited about doing the national anthem Tuesday,” Monica tweeted. “Just plan to sing my heart out &keep it simple 2 truly pay respects 2 our country.”
Monica released her fifth CD, the gold-selling “Still Standing,” in March.
“My favorite 2 national anthem renditions were Whitney Houstons and Marvin Gays,” Monica added on Twitter. “Totally different but both simply beautiful…”
