Thousands Honor John Lewis with ‘Good Trouble’ Day of Action

On the fifth anniversary of Congressman John Lewis’s passing, thousands across the nation are uniting to honor his legacy with a “Good Trouble” day of action. The initiative, part of the “Good Trouble Lives On” campaign, features nearly 1,600 events nationwide, including marches, voter registration drives, and community-building activities.
Organizers describe the campaign as a response to “the most brazen rollback of civil rights in generations,” aiming to reignite Lewis’s call to stand up for democracy, voting rights, and human rights. In Atlanta, events include a march through Lewis’s former district, educational workshops, and a block party.
Georgia NAACP President Gerald Griggs emphasized the importance of the day to 11Alive, stating, “In honor of the 5th anniversary of his passing, we gather not only to reflect on his legacy but to rise to the challenges of our time. We march, we speak, we act — together.”
The day serves as a powerful reminder of Lewis’s enduring impact and the ongoing fight for justice and equality.
The festivities in Atlanta begin with the “March for Good Trouble” at 4 pm, traveling from the John Lewis Mural on Auburn Avenue to the Amphitheater at the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park, located across from Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church and The King Center. A panel discussion and Block Party will follow. Click HERE for more details
