From the AJC.com:

The Wisconsin-based Freedom from Religion Foundation plans to blanket the metro Atlanta market this week with 50 billboards that shun religion and advocate separation of church and state.

The billboards, which will run for a month, include such messages as  “Imagine No Religion”, “Sleep In On Sundays” and even a quote from the late Thelma “Butterfly” McQueen, who played the maid Prissy in “Gone with the Wind.”  McQueen, a longtime member of the foundation and an atheist, is quoted as saying ” “As my ancestors are free from slavery, I am free from the slavery of religion.”

Co-President Annie Laurie Gaylor said the foundation hopes to enhance the visibility of the organization, which includes atheists, agnostics and freethinkers. “I do believe that religion causes more harm than good,” she said. She said the foundation is concerned about the taboo surrounding criticism of religion. “You can talk about everything else, but you sure aren’t supposed to say anything bad about religion.”

The foundation has more than 16,000 members nationally and 270 in Georgia.

She said the tab is being picked up by foundation members, but declined to say how much the billboards in metro Atlanta cost.
