A truth I’ve recently learned is this: What you focus on expands. It’s not so much that it get’s bigger, but it takes up more of your minds real estate. What you regularly focus on, either good or bad, is what will get your attention more often than not. Here’s one simple example: Think of the last purchase you made, whether it was a car or a handbag. Didn’t you start noticing that purchase EVERYWHERE? It wasn’t that everyone bought what you bought at the same time. It was already around. YOU just started noticing. Today, I’d like to suggest a shift in your perspective. Instead of focusing on what’s wrong with you or your situation, focus on what’s right. Make a list and post it on your mirror or refrigerator. For the next few days, only focus on the items on that list and watch how better you’ll feel. You’ll be surprised how a shift in focus can completely turn change an atmosphere!
Philippians 4:8, 9b – Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things… and the God of peace will be with you.
