The nominees for the 44th NAACP Image Awards have been announced. Anthony Anderson (Guys with Kids), Niecy Nash (The Soul Man), Yvette Nicole Brown (Community), Garcelle Beauvais (Flight), Tyler James Williams (Go On), and Zendaya (Shake It Up!) announced the categories and nominees.

The ceremony will take place Feb. 1 on NBC. Flight, Django Unchained, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Red Tails and Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds received nods for outstanding motion picture, while Scandal got a nomination in the television category.

Other nominees included outstanding actor in a motion picture contenders Denzel Washington for Flight, Jamie Foxx for Django Unchained, Morgan Freeman for The Magic of Belle Isle, Suraj Sharma for Life of Pi and Tyler Perry for Alex Cross.

The outstanding actress nominees are Emayatzy Corinealdi for Middle of Nowhere, Halle Berry for Cloud Atlas, Loretta Devine for In the Hive, Quvenzhane Wallis for Beasts of the Southern Wild and Viola Davis for Won’t Back Down.

The NAACP Image Awards celebrates the accomplishments of people of color in the fields of television, music, literature and film and also honors individuals or groups who promote social justice through creative endeavors.

“We are happy that once again the Image Awards will be aired on NBC,” said NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous. “For 44 years, the Image Awards have recognized the best that communities of color have to offer, both in the arts and in civil rights. The NAACP is proud to honor all of these achievements.”
