The daughter of music legend James Brown is sitting in an Augusta jail cell after being arrested for allegedly stealing an SUV and assaulting her boss.
According to the Augusta Chronicle, Venisha Brown is being charged with theft by taking a motor vehicle in Richmond County and is being held in the Richmond County jail for North Augusta authorities. North Augusta Public Safety has issued warrants against Brown for possession of a stolen vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and first-degree assault and battery.
Brown’s boss, Hope Ellis Campbell, told officers that she saw Brown in a Chevrolet Suburban stolen from St. Stephen Ministries. Campbell told police that she reached into the SUV to take the keys but Brown accelerated, dragging Campbell into and over the hood of another vehicle.
