The fallout from the Atlanta Public Schools cheating scandal continues.

Interim Superintendent Erroll Davis has replaced four area superintendents with principals and former school board chairman Khaatim Sherrer El announced his resignation in the continuing fallout from the scandal that has turned the nation’s attention on Atlanta.

El fought back tears in an emotional address to the school board announcing his resignation, reports the AJC. He has accepted a new position as chief of staff for the Foundation for Newark’s Future in Newark, N.J. El was one of the first on the board last year to question whether the Atlanta Public Schools was doing enough to respond to cheating allegations.

The four removed from area superintendent positions — Sharon Davis-Williams, Michael Pitts, Robin Hall and Tamara Cotman — were implicated in the scandal.
