Legendary rock guitarist Carlos Santana was in town recently to be honored for a “Beacon of Change” award at Sunday’s MLB Civil Rights Game at Turner Field.

While at the podium Santana called the state’s new immigration law “anti-American,” reports the AJC.

Santana criticized the bill before the Braves-Phillies game. As we previously reported, Gov. Nathan Deal signed the controversial, Arizona-style bill into law on Friday.

The law, HB 87, targets illegal immigration by increasing enforcement powers and requiring many employers to check the immigration status of new hires.

Santanta said the law is based on racism and economic anxiety.
