This past Sunday Bishop Eddie Long informed members of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church that he recently took a 40-percent pay cut.

The AJC reports that Long told his congregation the economy has forced many churches to tighten their budgets, and the Lithonia-based megachurch is no exception.

Recently, the church said it was forced to lay off two full-time staffers and cut salaries by 10 percent. The church also cut its work week from five days to four.

As we previously reported, Long has been at the center of several sexual misconduct lawsuits filed by four young men who claim the pastor coerced them into having improper relations. The first mediation session in efforts to resolve the case before it goes to trial recently ended and more could be scheduled.
