Well, well, well! They’re late to the party but they’ve entered the building. On Friday it was announced that retail giant Walmart will soon let its customers make purchases using Apple Pay and other tap-to-pay methods. Starting Monday, Aug. 24th, customers at select Walmart stores will be able to choose a tap-to-pay option at checkout, allowing them to make purchases with Apple Pay, Google Pay and other digital payment technologies. Tap-to-pay will be available at all Walmart and Sam’s Club locations by the end of 2026, and the service will be available at their gas stations by mid-2027. Walmart shoppers often complained that they couldn’t use Apple Pay, which is accepted at more than 85% of U.S. retailers. I’m VERY surprised it took Walmart this long to make it easier for people to give them money. Shocked!
