When life feels unpredictable, how do you stay grounded? We recently had the honor of sitting down with globally respected thought leader, entrepreneur, and co-senior pastor of The Potter’s House of Dallas, Pastor Touré Roberts. He joined us to discuss his transformative new book, Knowing: The Journey to Certainty in an Uncertain World.

This powerful conversation offered an inclusive journey into faith, resilience, and clarity. Here are the most impactful takeaways from our culturally connected discussion with Pastor Touré.

A Legacy Beyond Wealth

When asked why he wrote Knowing, Pastor Touré opened up about his deeply personal motivation: creating a legacy for his children. “When I write a book, when I speak, anything that I do that involves people, my motivation is my kids,” he shared. He went on to explain, “The Bible says a good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children… If I didn’t leave them any money, if I didn’t leave them any stocks or anything like that, what is worthy and valuable enough to leave them that will make a difference in their lives? If Dad’s voice is not there, it’s knowing.”

For Pastor Touré, Knowing is much more than a book—it is a testament to empowering the next generation with spiritual clarity. “If I had to leave one book in the earth for my kids and your kids and everybody else’s kids, I would push the other to the side and I would say, Knowing is the book,” he emphasized. Through this work, he ensures that his children—and the broader community—will always have the benefit of his wisdom and God’s direction to guide them through life.

Unlocking the Three P’s

During the interview, Pastor Touré broke down the profound benefits of tapping into your inner knowing, sharing what he calls the “Three P’s.” He explained, “When you tap into knowing, it is going to give you clarity about purpose, about your person or your partner, and your provision.” He continued:

  • Purpose: “It’s going to give you clarity about purpose. We were created with a purpose. Before I formed you in your mother’s womb, I knew you and I ordained you for something.”
  • Partner: “You can’t be fruitful by yourself. People will make you or break you. So the ability to have the clarity to choose well and to attract well is everything.”
  • Provision: “God knows that we need provision… There’s clarity about provision. A lot of people’s economics have been disrupted… but we have to reframe disruption. You have to tap into your knowing so that you won’t be stuck in depression because things have shifted—you’ll be led to your next place of provision.”
  • Purpose: We were all created intentionally. Tapping into knowing gives you absolute clarity about why you are here and what you are meant to do.
  • Partner: We cannot be fruitful alone. Knowing helps you discern who should be in your life, whether that means a life partner, a business associate, or the community around you.
  • Provision: Economic disruptions affect us all, but God always provides a way. When you listen to your inner knowing, you can pivot smoothly and find your next stream of provision, even in a famine.

Moving From Hope to Knowing

One of the most profound moments of the interview centered on the shift from simply hoping to actually knowing. As Pastor Touré put it, “As people of faith, we come to trust God, we believe God, but we haven’t sometimes experienced Him in certain circumstances to bring us to an ‘I know.’ And so we hope. Hope feels safe, but there are some things that hope’s not going to get. You’ve got to know.”

He went on to explain, “You’ve got to know because the word will be challenged and threatened. If you hope, you might back up. But when you know, you say, ‘The devil is a liar. This is against my covenant. This is against my promise.’” Pastor Touré encouraged listeners to cultivate a deep sense of spiritual certainty that roots you in your purpose and empowers you to stand strong—even in adversity.
