According to ABC News, Tulsa Cop Betty Shelby was arrested and released early Friday morning on an arrest warrant for first-degree manslaughter charges in the shooting death of Terence Crutcher.

Shelby turned herself into authorities around 1 a.m. and posted a $50,0000 bond 20 minutes later.

The Tulsa County District Attorney’s office said that Shelby acted “unreasonably by escalating the situation from a confrontation,” and became “emotionally involved,” according to an affidavit obtained by ABC News.

Shelby’s employer, the Tulsa County Police Department, is currently reviewing her employment status due to an internal affairs review.

Crutcher family attorney Damario Solomon-Simmons spoke at a press conference when the charges were first announced.

“We are happy that charges were brought,” he said. “But, let me be clear. The family wants and deserves full justice, and full justice requires not just charges but a vigorous prosecution and a conviction to those who shot and killed Terence for no reason.”

Crutcher’s twin sister Tiffany Crutcher thanked the Tulsa community for their support and demanded greater accountability in Shelby’s prosecution.

Our goal as a family is to ensure that this never happens to an innocent citizen,” she said. “Rather than focus on the reprehensible actions on today we choose to celebrate Terence’s life, a life which he lived to fullest every single day.”
