The bible is clear. All things work together for our good, but WE have a role to play. I’ve grown to discover that one of my biggest cop-outs was, ‘Hey, it will all just work out’. Often times I said it when I wasn’t as thorough as I should have been or when I was too lazy to do the hard work required on my part to get the task done. It was just easier to abdicate my role when I felt like I had my ‘God card’ to bail me out. As a child, my mother made sure we had excellent cleaning skills. We even helped her with her cleaning business from time to time. My job was cleaning the bathroom. When I first started, mom would give me the Ajax to clean a filthy tub but I didn’t think it was strong enough because the dirt didn’t go away. She said, ‘What I gave you is enough. You just have to put the work in’. We all have a part to play. When we do our part, God sees our faith and obedience, and does His. If you’re waiting for God to work things out in your favor, perhaps you should see if you’ve done YOUR work first.
