  8. 3 cups long-grain rice
  9. 1 (28-ounce) can diced tomatoes
  10. 5 cups chicken broth
  11. 2 tablespoons chopped fresh thyme
  12. 2 fresh bay leaves
  13. 1½ pounds large fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
  14. 2 teaspoons kosher salt, divided
  15. 1 teaspoon ground black pepper, divided
  16. 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  17. ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  18. 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
