Dylann Storm Roof, the accused gunman of the Emanuel AME Church shooting in Charleston, is slated to appear in court Thursday. Judge Nicholson claims he decided to make this move because of the publicity surrounding the case and he wants to ensure that Roof receives a fair trial. The South Carolina Press Association is arguing that the press has the right to know details. Today will be Roof’s first court appearance since his bond hearing in June. He has been indicted on nine counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder. Read more.
