Happy Summer Solstice!

Sharing this post from Shirley Johnson.

Today, Monday June 21, marks the annual Summer Solstice. The word Solstice, comes from the Latin; Sol = Sun, and Stice, from the verb sistere = to stand still. The summer solstice marks the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, where we have the most hours of sunlight and also the official first day of summer.

In Ancient Kemet (what is today referred to as Egypt /Africa), the Summer Solstice was the most important day of the year! When the sun was at its highest, it meant that the Nile River was beginning to rise as well. The rising of the Nile River represented the soon to come floods which would feed and nourish the crops of the Nile Valley and feed a community. In this way, the Summer Solstice was a day of hope and gratitude for the rebirth of the community! It was a sign of fertility and abundance.

Let today also be a day of hope and gratitude for you! Today marks the the highest point of the sun in your personal life as well. The summer marks a time of new birth and action. What is ready to be reborn in your life today?

Your actions resonate very strongly today. Let the sun guide + Inspire you! What you do today will reflect the rest of your summer! Wake up and smell the sunshine!

Bliss + Light,

Shirley
