JONEBSORO, GA—Today Congressman David Scott (D-GA) announced the availability of the 2012 Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Foundation scholarships online at www.cbcfinc.org/scholarships.

“I am pleased to announce several scholarship opportunities for deserving students in my District,” said Congressman Scott.  “I know firsthand the difference scholarships can make for students because scholarships helped me make my way through college.  With ever rising tuition costs, these scholarships can help our students meet their financial obligations to attend college.”

The CBC Scholarships were established in 1988 in response to federal cuts in education spending.  The scholarships are awarded in the Congressional Districts of each member of the Congressional Black Caucus.  Since 2003, Congressman Scott and his wife, Mrs. Alfredia Scott, have awarded $119,000 in scholarships from the CBC Foundation to 65 students from Georgia’s Thirteenth Congressional District.  High school seniors or full-time undergraduate, graduate or professional school students from Congressman Scott’s District who have a minimum 2.5 grade point average can apply for the scholarships.
