Atlanta University Center students united to become a family and rejoiced yesterday that all the people that were involved in Saturday morning’s bus accident survived. Only one student was seriously hurt and remains at Grady Memorial Hospital. Forty-two members of the “House of Funk” Morehouse Marching Band were traveling to Albany State for a football game, when a car reportedly cut in front of the bus they were riding in. Witnesses say, that unexpected move caused the bus to hydroplane, swerve and flip twice Saturday around 10 AM. Dozens of people were hurt. None of the injuries were considered life-threatening. Sources say, the one student that’s still at Grady did suffer some sort of fracture, but that has not been confirmed.

At a gathering at the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel, students prayed for those who were hurt, and rejoiced for others who were not hurt. Attendees said they were compelled to celebrate because the potentially deadly accident did not lead to any loss of lives.
