The 100 Black Men of DeKalb program targets students in grades 6-12 enrolled in the DeKalb County School System. The students are primarily from single parents homes with little or no positive male presence in their lives. We offer a “boot-camp” program for students that have experienced some difficulties in school or home. These students are helped by having a mentor to provide one-on-one training to prepare them to be better citizens. The students are taught leadership and developmental, life-long skills.
The 100 Black Men of DeKalb Highlights:
- Awarded 10 high school seniors scholarships to attend an institution of higher learning
- Sponsored an international trip to Ghana, West Africa for six students
- Implemented a tennis program with the USTA
- Provided an after-school tutoring program for the students at McNair HS to improve high school graduation test scores
- Partnered with the Army ROTC to teach and demonstrate leadership and developmental skills
100 Black Men of DeKalb continues to provide the community with life changing experience for the students. A full curriculum has been developed for the school year to enhance their reading comprehension, computer skills, social skills, and speaking skills.
