According to the New York Post, a judge in Ohio has ordered a teen who admitted to secretly filming himself having sex with a 14-year-old girl. The teen then reportedly shared the footage with classmates and now has to register as a sex offender for the next 25 years.
After the girl’s mother went to police with the video, 18-year-old Jeremiah Horton was indicted by a grand jury in December. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the senior football player sent the video to classmates at North College Hill High School from which he was later expelled.
The New York Post reported that Horton will have to register as a Tier 2 sex offender and was sentenced by a judge to spend six months at River City Correctional Center, a rehab facility for nonviolent felony offenders. He will have to register as a sex offender every six months during the next 25 years.
Horton was one of the four teens prosecuted in connection with this case, pleaded guilty in April to a felony child pornography charge according to The New York Post. The three teens were prosecuted in juvenile court and have been placed on probation.
According to The New York Post, Horton has apologized to the victim and her family.
“‘I’m not proud of what I did,'” Horton said. He continued to express his apologies for the humiliation he caused his father, who has raised him as a single parent.
