Smokie Norful talks with Erica Campbell about his book, “Take The Lid Off.” He recalls learning to cook rice from his grandmother, and rushing over to the when it threatens to boil over, as his grandma was yelling, “take the lid off!” In that moment, “everything inside began to simmer down and finish its process” He says life is the same in that there is a lot of pressure for a lot of us, but  writing this book is his way to give a strategy to people on finding their purpose, which leads to maximizing and fulfilling lives.

Smokie explains that, as a pastor, he lives in a perpetual state of crisis- and not his own, other people’s. He explains that God really wants for us to have an abundant life- abundance of peace and healing -and this new book is his a chance to “preach that sermon globally.” Click on the audio player to hear more in this exclusive interview from “Get Up!
