Most of the sin we struggle with is not about the sin but about the pain that we use sin to medicate. For example, the pain was abuse, but promiscuity became the sin that medicated the pain. The pain was abandonment, but drug addiction became the sin that medicated the pain. Guilt is one of the enemy’s greatest tools. He wants you to focus on the sin and feel constantly defeated.
