Have you ever talked to someone and knew by their tone that a ‘but’ was coming? ‘I really like your outfit, BUT…’. ‘I can loan you the money, BUT…’. Doesn’t it kinda make you want to hold off on embracing what’s BEFORE the but until you hear what’s AFTER the ‘but’?
