After a Staten Island jury deciding not to indict Police Officer Daniel Pantaleo for the death of Eric Garner, a discussion surrounding whites arrested has taken center stage on Twitter. Using the hashtag #CrimingWhileWhite, many users of the social media site talked about their brushes with the law and how the incidents were vastly opposite than ones with minorities involved. According to some tweeters:

On  July 17, Pantaleo detained Garner for allegedly selling cigarettes without taxes. The two got into a verbal altercation resulting in Garner dying after being placed in an apparent chokehold by Pantaleo, which is illegal to use in the state of New York.
