Federal authorities arrested Jaleel Tariq Abdul-Jabbaar for allegedly threatening to kill Darren Wilson, the former officer who is responsible for the shooting death of unarmed Ferguson, Missouri teen Michael Brown. The 38-year-old Kirkland, Washington man was charged with three counts of making interstate threats as he posted them on his Facebook page. He faces up to five years in prison–that more time than Wilson will ever do. Yes Abdul-Jabbaar’s comments were indeed threatening, but it looks like it took the authorities no time to arrest a man who was passionately venting about his frustration around Wilson’s non-indictment. And how much time did it take the authorities to arrest Darren Wilson? Oh, he was never arrested.

Abdul-Jabbaar’s Facebook page described in court papers contains numerous posts calling for Wilson to be killed, asking for “real Black men” who would love to go to Ferguson to give Wilson back those bullets he gave to Brown. Abdul-Jabbaar would post photos of Wilson with captions, “Wanted for Murder of Mike Brown. This dude needs his house sprayed.” Abdul-Jabbaar’s threats reached a fever pitch when he declared, “Ready to go and kill some cops” and “We need to kill this white motha f*cka and anything that has a badge on.”

It’s being reported that it’s unclear how authorities focused in on Abdul-Jabbaar, but his case is assigned to an international terrorism squad, part of the Joint Terrorism Task Force out of the the FBI’s Seattle Field Division. Although not included in any reports, Abdul-Jabbaar’s Facebook page includes many posts about the ISIS and his cover photo is the Islamic State’s black flag. The complaint against Abdul-Jabbar says that he was attempting to obtain a weapon, even though he has felony record due to a prior drug charge in Philadelphia in 1992 and a federal charge in 2009 from an unlawful possession of a firearm after a shoot-out stemming from a domestic violence incident involving his friend’s sister.

Acting United States Attorney Annette L. Hayes said in a statement, “Although we each have the right to express our views about the decision reached by the state grand jury in Ferguson, Missouri, we cannot tolerate violence or threats of violence that are intended to intimidate, and ultimately silence debate. Such threats are crimes, and the individuals who make them must be held to account.”

With Abdul-Jabbaar’s record and his severe threats, I understand why the feds would need to investigate, but doesn’t it seem odd that the same broken justice system that didn’t see fit to slap Wilson with murder charges, but Abdul-Jabbar is about to do time in prison for being outwardly frustrated? What do you think beauties? Sound off in the comments below.
