Inglot Cosmetics in the trendy Chelsea district of New York City served as the host for the ColorComm NYC Beauty Spree on Wednesday, May 28. Nearly 40 ColorComm beauties came out to mix and mingle over cosmetics, cocktails by GivenUSA and cupcakes by Sydney’s Sweets. Guests also received complimentary makeup consultations and makeovers by Inglot’s team of professional makeup up artists.

The ladies were joined by special guest speaker for the evening, Beauty Editor Ty Alexander of Gorgeous In Grey and Hello Beautiful. During the discussion, moderated by L’Rai Mensah, ColorComm NYC membership chair and founder of Culture Complex, Ty spoke about the behind-the-scenes life of a beauty editor, which is not all glitz and glamour. Hard work, dedication and passion propelled her to where she is now. Sharing how she often writes nearly 40 articles a week as an editor, Ty encouraged aspiring bloggers and editors to develop a team with whom they can brainstorm headlines and story angles. “Ideation isn’t always easy”, she said. Ty also spoke about some of the hottest beauty trends for the summer season, which includes orange lipstick, bright nail lacquers and colored eyeliner.
