Speaking at the 2012 National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C., President Barack Obama said his Christian faith is a driving force behind his economic policies.

Speaking to more than 3,000 people at the annual breakfast, Obama said, for example, that his own call for fairness in the tax code – a central tenet of his State of the Union address and his 2012 campaign – is both economically sound and consistent with the teachings of Jesus.

President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama recently hosted a screening of “Red Tails” at the White House and invited real Tuskegee Airmen to the screening.

Jewish Leaders Offended By Eddie Long’s “King” Ceremony [VIDEO]

We posted a video yesterday of a January 29th service at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church where Bishop Eddie Long was crowned a king by Ralph Messer — who claims to be a Rabbi bringing Torah truth to Christians.

“He’s no longer a commoner,” said Messer. “He’s not on the Earth! He’s raised from Earth into a Heavenly realm! He’s raised in a prophetic position…God has made a prophet out of you.”

During the ceremony Eddie Long was also wrapped in a sacred Torah scroll and carried upon a throne. Messer claimed the Torah scroll was 312 years old and “may still have the dust of Auschwitz and Birkenau,” referring to the Nazi extermination camps in Poland where millions of Jews were killed during the Holocaust.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution spoke with several metro Atlanta Jewish leaders who found the ceremony offensive to Judaism, including Bill Nigut, Southeast Regional Director of the Anti-Defamation League.

Rabbi Joshua Heller of Congregation B’nai Torah in Sandy Springs told the AJC that he would never wrap a Jewish person in a Torah scroll, saying he found the symbolism off-putting.

In a statement released through New Birth, Messer said critics misunderstood his intent.

“My message was about restoring a man and to encourage his walk in the Lord,” Messer said. “It was not to make Bishop Eddie L. Long a king.”

Messer added that Sunday’s ceremony “was simply a way of bringing honor to a man who had given his life to the Lord and had given so much to his church, the Atlanta metro area and throughout the world.”

Stacey English’s Body Identified [VIDEO]

On Wednesday morning, the Fulton County medical examiner confirmed that the body found on Monday in South East Atlanta is indeed Stacey Nicole English, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The medical examiner was able to identify English through the dental records her family provided. English, a bank teller, had been missing since late December, but a day after her disappearance, investigators found her car, a Volvo S260, in a library parking lot still running.

On Monday, authorities found English’s body under a tree in the woods off St. Johns Avenue near Lakewood Fairgrounds.

As we previously reported, during a fundraising stop at Harlem’s historic Apollo Theater, President Barack Obama wowed the crowd with a brief rendition of Al Green’s classic, “Let’s Stay Together.”

The legendary soul singer and reverend, who was in the audience, told TMZ that the Commander-In-Chief was “terrific” and “he nailed it.”
