2012 General Election Voter Registration Deadline: Tuesday, October 9th

In order to vote in person in Georgia, you must provide photo identification.

Acceptable identification includes:

Any valid state or federal government issued photo ID, including a Voter ID Card issued by your county registrar office or the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS)
A Georgia Driver License, even if expired
Valid United States passport
Valid tribal photo ID
Military photo identification
Valid employee photo ID from any branch, department, agency, or entity of the U.S. Government, or any county, municipality, board, authority or other entity of Georgia

If you show up to vote and do not have one of the acceptable forms of photo identification, you can still vote, but by provisional ballot. You will then have two days after the election to present appropriate photo identification at your county’s office in order for your provisional ballot to be counted.

YOU MUST

a. Be a citizen of the United States

b. Be a legal resident of Georgia and of the county in which you want to vote

c. Be 18 years old within six months after the day of registration, and be 18 years old by

election day

d. Not be serving a sentence for having been convicted of a felony

e. Not have been judicially determined to be mentally incompetent, unless the disability

has been removed

Registration Deadline: The fifth Monday before any general primary, general election, or presidential preference primary, or regularly scheduled special election pursuant to the Georgia Election Code. In the event that a special election is scheduled on a date other that those dates prescribed by the Georgia Election Code, registration would close on the 5th day after the call.

Georgia‘s Voter Identification Card

If you do not have one of the six acceptable forms of photo ID, the State of Georgia offers a FREE Voter Identification Card. An identification card can be issued at any county registrar’s office or Department of Driver Services Office free of charge.

To Receive a voter identification card, the voter must provide:
	A photo identity document or approved non-photo identity document that includes full legal name and date of birth
	Documentation showing the voter’s date of birth
	Evidence that the applicant is a registered voter
	Documentation showing the applicant’s name and residential address
