James Holmes, the man accused of killing a dozen people and injuring many more during in a packed movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, made his first court appearance Monday. Holmes opened fire during a showing of the new Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises.
Holmes reportedly had his hair dyed like the Batman villain The Joker during his shooting rampage, and in court his hair was dyed various shades of red. Holmes looked dazed and possibly drugged, looking downward, then straight ahead. He sat without blinking for long periods.
Sources report that Holmes was also wearing a bullet proof vest under his garments for his own protection and had also been given anxiety medication after showing signs of paranoia.
He will not be formally charged until next Monday. Holmes was arrested early Friday morning in connection with the movie theater shooting the killed 12 people and wounded 58 others.
