I’m a planner by nature.  I have five to six journals that I use to jot down all my plans and ideas.  I also have a mental agenda. I don’t always write those ideas and plans down, but they’re there.  Everyday my husband says to me, “What’s on the agenda today?”  I usually ask him the same thing. Then we look at my son’s schedule and try to make the day work.  I have to admit something here.  When things are thrown unexpectedly on my schedule, I don’t like it.  I have planned my day and now someone hurls a kink into it.  It irritates me and has the ability to throw my whole day off.  Isn’t that terrible of me (smile)?  I am learning that as I give my day to the Lord, He has the right to make changes to my schedule.

Proverbs 16:9 says, “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.”  Realize that God has the last say.  I hear the words of Paul when he said he had learned to be content in every situation. That is a hard lesson to learn because I like things a certain way.  My dad use to tell me “Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape!”  He was right.  I’m trying to see God’s hand in every circumstance and go with it.  I don’t believe in coincidence, only divine purpose. There is a reason for everything.  So if something seems to throw a kink in your day, step back and see where God is in all of it.  Go ahead and make your plans, but let Him order your steps and see where He takes you!
