As expected, Tyler Perry cleaned up big at the 42nd Annual NAACP Image Awards.

The Atlanta-based actor and director, famous for his cross-dressing Madea character, had more nominations in the categories of film and television than anyone else.

While he didn’t get much love from the Oscars or The Golden Globes he won Outstanding Motion Picture and Outstanding Director in a Motion Picture for the film ‘For Colored Girls.’ When he accepted the award he thanked the choreopoem’s original author Ntozake Shange and all of the black women who continue to support his work.
