It’s hard to believe that it’s been over 25 years since Spike Lee released his classic film, “School Daze”. While the cast, crew and fans alike celebrated the 25th anniversary of the iconic film in 2013, many have wondered over the past 25 years if there would ever be a chance for a sequel, after all, movies that great deserve a follow up, right? According to Black&Sexy TV, Spike Lee has confirmed that a script for “School Daze II” has been completed and a sequel is indeed in the works.

When speaking with Black&Sexy TV, Spike Lee stated,

“I had the script for ‘School Daze. But, what people have to understand is that it’s a contemporary version. So it’s the same school, Mission College, 25 years later,”

“Hopefully I can get Laurence Fishburne to play Dap. He’ll be the president now of the school. And we would deal with issues around Historically Black Colleges today.”

Is anybody else as excited as I am for the release of “School Daze II”? It’s going to be interesting to see how Spike Lee incorporates the issues of today’s Black Colleges into the classic theme of the movie. In case you’re not familiar with the first “School Daze”, catch a clip of the film below.
