Sometimes we become overwhelmed with being ‘politically correct’… even with God. We say things like, ‘Lord, I don’t praise you for what you’ve DONE, but I praise you for who you ARE’. It’s like we don’t want to come off like we’re spiritual gold diggers or something. I think our hearts are in the right place, but God actually WANTS us to praise Him for what He’s done! It’s like talking about your job and saying, ‘I don’t care about the money, vacation package, 401k & health benefits, I’m just glad I have a job!’ Listen, it’s ok… God doesn’t hold it against you because you like what He does for you. Just as long as you remember that EVERY good and perfect gift comes from Him (James 1:17). As a child of God, you are entitled to a benefits package and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. The GIFT and the GIVER come as a package deal. Embrace them both!
