How effective are you as a child of God? Let me rephrase… With all of the God we sing, pray, preach, testify, and label ourselves with (ie: CHRISTians), can you point to where you are consistently effective and everyone who knows you would agree? Salt is effective because everything it touches is impacted. Light is the same way. Christ commissions us to be BOTH of these in this world (Matt. 5:13-14). Frankly speaking, either you ARE effective or you are NOT. The reason many of us are ok with our ineffective mediocrity is because we’ve surround ourselves with people who are of like minds, and when someone who thinks outside the box comes along, they are easily labeled ‘too deep’, ‘extra’ or ‘too churchy’. American aphorist Mason Cooley said it this way. ‘Excuses change nothing, but make everyone feel better.’ Don’t make excuses for ineffectiveness. If you just want to ‘talk about it’, write a book. If you want to ‘be about it’, tap into the power God has made available to you and MAKE a difference!
