The brother of prominent Atlanta pastor, Bishop Wiley Jackson, was shot and killed early Tuesday during a home invasion and robbery at his northwest Atlanta residence. According to the AJC, Jerrick Jackson, 46, died at Grady Memorial Hospital after being shot several times at his home in the 2400 block of Lowe Street, in a neighborhood off Hollywood Road.

Jackson was the younger brother of Wiley Jackson, founder and pastor of the Gospel Tabernacle Cathedral.

WSB-TV reported that Jarrick Jackson had just returned home from a restaurant at 1 a.m. when he was met by several suspects and forced inside the house. A struggle ensued inside the home and Jackson was shot multiple times.

Bishop Jackson announced his brother’s death in a message via Twitter:

Greetings!

It is with our deepest heartfelt sympathy that we inform you of the passing of Bishop Jacksons’s brother, Jerrick Jackson. He passed away on this morning.

We are asking the Gospel Tabernacle Church family to keep our Bishop, First Lady and the entire Jackson family in your prayers.

We know how much you all love Mother Jackson and want to reach out to her during this time. However, due to the physical challenges she is suffering from of her own, along with this time of grieving, please refrain from contacting her at this time. We will make sure that at a later time you have an opportunity to express your condolences to Mother Jackson.

Bishop Jackson has been teaching on believing and trusting God during difficult times. Let us continue to believe God with our Bishop and First Family whom we know embraces and shows us that “the just shall live by faith.” (Romans 1:17)

The funeral has been tentatively set for Tuesday May 14, 2013 at 2:00PM here at the Gospel Tabernacle Cathedral.

Any questions you may have are to be directed to our church office at 404-370-3800.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support during this time of bereavement.

Sincerely,

Gospel Tabernacle Cathedral
